Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited participated in the biggest ever global summit organised by Government of Assam ‘Advantage Assam’ held on 3rd and 4th February 2018 at Sarusajai Stadium Guwahati. The event was the largest ever investment promotion and facilitation initiative by the Government of Assam organised in the gateway of Assam. Honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the mega event who was accompanied by several Union Ministers along with Chief Minister of Assam Shri Sarbananda Sonowal. Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay, also attended the event strengthening the bilateral ties of the countries. Various Industrial tycoons, government officials of the country attended the event with a view to explore business potential in the state.
The Summit aimed at highlighting the state’s geostrategic advantages offered to investors by Assam. This event showcased the manufacturing process and the opportunities offered by the state in terms of export-oriented manufacturing and services to growing economies viz. ASEAN and BBN countries. For the event Government of Assam identified BCPL to play a major role for the “Plastics and Petrochemicals” sector.
In this respect several high level meetings were held between the Industries and Commerce Department and BCPL management. It is worthwhile to mention that the event was a crucial one for Government of Assam and Public Sector Undertakings in North East India. BCPL had also set up a Stall on “Plastics and Petrochemicals” where GAIL,APL and CIPET also participated. Further, BCPL organized and co-ordinated the sectoral session on “Plastics and Petrochemicals”. In the sectoral session Mr. A K Singh Managing Director BCPL presented a theme giving an overview of Plastics and Petrochemicals Sector of Assam. The other key note speakers in the session were Shri B.C.Tripathi CMD GAIL, Mrs Aparna Sharma, Joint Secretary Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals & MoCF, Shri Ravi Capoor, Additional Chief Secretary to Govt. of Assam, Dept of Industries and Commerce, Shri Avinash Joshi Managing Director OPAL, Shri Hiten Bheda, President AIPMA, Mr Gijs Ten Berge, Director (Polyolefins) M/s CB&I Novolen Technology GmbH, Shri Kamal Tandon Head Petrochemical Division GAIL,Shri Ashok Goel Chairman Essel Propack Ltd,Shri M.Venkatesh Director (Refinery)MRPL, Shri L.R. Thakuria Chairman North East Plastic Manufacturer Association and Chairman, Plast-India Foundation for Assam and North East, and Shri Ratul Bordoloi, Managing Director Assam Petrochemicals Limited also attended the session.
It must be mentioned BCPL signed 13 numbers of MoUs with investors for 333 crores and overall 980 crores was invested in the plastic and petrochemicals sector.
During the event, people came to the BCPL stall with various queries on the finished products of BCPL. We also had a few entrepreneurs who showed interest in BCPL polymers and wanted to know how to set-up downstream industries.
